It’s time for me to, gird my loins, get into my Armour, look into the mirror and practice mean angry faces… make sure my prescription for Ativan, is filled, maybe strike a pose, showing the massive muscles in my arms, to scare off the opposing competition….
Yep it’s back to school shopping time… Are you ready? I’m not.
My two girls are 16, and 12. Different as day and night. My oldest doesn’t really care for shopping. She’s a get in, get what you like, get out kinda person. It makes for easy shopping.
My youngest enjoys the whole process. She not only wants to visit store after store, but, has to try on almost everything in said store before deciding what she wants or likes. (Usually what she wants and likes is for older girls and not age appropriate) so, we have ‘words’ about that, during such time her older sister gripes and fumes at such dilly-dallying.
This year, for my sanity, I have divided things and people up. My oldest gets a set amount of money and will buy her basic school clothes and shoes on a shopping trip with her friend Jessica. My youngest will come with me that day (oh joy of joys) and we will get her basics.
The next day is the 3 of us will buy undies, bras, socks etc. Things that they don’t really want Dad being a part of… just to pay for.
We’ll have lunch and move onto Walmart/Shopko/Target/Kmart for school supplies.
I’m hoping that by dividing up the days, and people, that when we are finally finished, all will be happy, and I won’t feel the urge to kill them both! Wish me luck! BIG HUGS, Steph

I\’m with rainthrower.. I can\’t handle shopping at the best of times!! My mom used to have to bring everything home on approval (back when you could do that), because I\’m such a bad shopper.. My brother is the whiz..so he and mom go and Dad and I stay home!! Fortunately my ex was a shopper, so he did it for my stepdaughter.. Yay, me!Now, it\’s online or nothing!!

I laughed soooo hard at this…it is exactly how I feel every year at this time….school shopping URG! Fortunately for me, one evening while I was extremely stressed and my husband asked how he could help…I asked him to take care of the school shopping! Ahhhh, relief! Until the other day when he was compiling a computer list of all three kids supplies that he could check against the suppies we had in the basement before creating his shopping list…and he said…this sucks, I\’m never doing it again…. : ( So I am certainly back to it next year. oh well….one year is nice….

My wife was way ahead of the curve and got a lot of the school supply shoppipng done. Now we just have to worry about clothes and shoes. Of course two weeks after we get the boys new clothes they will have outgrown them. Knuckleheads.

Yeah Booties got a new Pack Pack for his new school shopping. That\’s all I could handle. As you found out in Hawaii I DON\’T SHOP!!! Knocked up or not, I hate it, granted its a lot more fun to look for cute things for Mama\’s when i am standing around doing nothing. (Too bad we didn\’t know she was a girl then). But yeah I am not looking forward to it in the next couple years, thank goodness Paul shops, he shops for all of us.

Heya Steph… thanks for dropping by during my brief sabatical away from all things blog. Hope you\’re still in one piece (and peace?) and have managed to keep a grasp on a modicum of your sanity during such stressful times. Typical bloke this end when it comes to shopping. It\’s like a military operation… i\’ve already got the blueprints of the shopping centre and have planned the shortest possible route to get all the things I need and get the hell out of there before my brain turns itself inside out. Then, once i\’m stepping out of my car, the clock starts…. \’NEED JEANS…. GET TO GAP, 1ST FLOOR… MOVE MOVE MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!\’
Barging people out the way, shoving small children, kicking sticks from under the elderly…. no-one is safe….
Unfortunately, a lot of the shops have now refused to serve me and I\’m close to a total ban at the local shopping centre… looks like i\’ll have to start turning my underpants inside out to get a few more days wear out of them…

Ohhhhhhh, I love to shop! Luckily for me, hubby and mancub don\’t like shopping. So, I use his back-to-school shopping spree as a "free pass" for one of my own. I get to go to the mall, spend lotsa money on my favorite person in the world, and not feel at all guilty when I come home for a lil sommin\’ sommin\’ for myself (usually shoes, which hubby will tell me are no different than the 80 other pair in my closet). Argghhhh, men!

Hello! Things in the kingdom are much improved over the last few days…it has been quiet and hectic here all at once…and yes m\’lady, shopping for a family of 5 for about 500 per month (including lunches for the kids to take to school) all said and done it\’s about $650, as the first 500 is for the big shopping trip, then there are weekly trips for the fresh ingredients (salads, milk, and such)…I have much information to share!!
