Two sick buckets and a wedding

One of my male cousins on the Italian side of the family got married on Saturday. I was planning on going, but my youngest daughter got sick (fever, sick, etc). I admit I was disappointed, but, hey, a Mom’s gotta do what a Mom’s gotta do. I dragged out the ‘ol sick buckets.
Later that evening I gave my Mom and Sis a call to see how the wedding went. Ok, we are Italian, but is your family like this? I didn’t get any info on how beautiful the bride looked, even how the ceremony went. I had to pry just to get that her color was white, and her flowers were bright colors of Gerbera Daisys. Nope the info I got, and very detailed info indeed was about… the FOOD! After the wedding, they all went to the Italian restaurant that my cousin Mikey works at, he met his wife there. I heard all about the wonderful salad, the bread, which everyone raved about (we love bread) they had roasted garlic and olive oil at each table to dip or spread on your bread. Main course was a lemon chicken on angelhair with julienne veggies. So far each person I’ve spoken to had their favorite part of the meal, but everyone loved the bread. lol
Later that evening was the reception, lots of music, and it was decorated by the groom’s Mom, my aunt Cindy. Aunt Cindy is the type of person that would make a type A, over acheiver, perfectionist, feel like a slouch. I had to call her to get the details, but, she put up full false ceiling, white crepe paper that made it look like a white event tent. Then she strung up netting under it (think white tulle) that had small white lights in it. The theme was a garden so they had trees, arbors, lattice, and archways. All decorated with lights, ribbons, tulle greens and flowers. The flowers were bright colors of Gerbera Daisys, yellow Tulips, yellow Daffodills. It sounds like it was gorgeous, and as soon as I can get over to my Aunt’s house to load the pictures online, I’ll post some.
Back to food, our family receptions always include tons of food. Besides the usual Sherbert Punches, and Lemonades, there were all kinds of finger sandwiches, meats, cheeses, breads, relish trays, nuts, desserts of just about all kinds (I have cousins who are pastry chefs and ones who’ve gone to culinary school), and hand made, hand dipped candy and truffles. Are we hungry yet? I know I am!
I have to admit, I was feeling sorry for myself because I missed it… oh well, he’s young and who knows I just might get another chance later…. (JOKING) just joking. Sorry couldn’t resist.
Well I’m off to the store to pick up some movies, I know ‘Arry Potter, and the goblet of fire will be one. Haven’t decided what else to get. I hope your day is going great. BIG HUGS, Steph
(The first cartoon is cause Greg said, time to clean the litterbox!) LOL

Youngest daughter would just have to stay with not-the-youngest daughter.  With Italian food abound she would just have to fly solo or something.

I have an Italian neighbor and have known him and his wife for 15 years.  As i read this it struck methat I have never heard them talk about anything other than food or money.  The food thing must be an italian deal…

My sister married an Italian (we are Irish) – and it was one of the few fun weddings (I hear – I didn\’t go).  I hate weddings.  EEww!  They cost more than anyone ever makes and they often last longer than the marriage.  Before I quit drinking altogether there was at least booze, but still…  I just don\’t like formal type affairs.  I have pretty much decided I will never attend another one, so if I get any invites, I\’ll pass them on to you to make up for missing this one.  I would estimate that 50% of brides I have known lose all interest in the marriage after the exit from the reception.  I just about always ccatch the garter.  I feel I have saved a lot of bachelors from disaster in my day…

Can you adopt me? Please? I love food. My hubby loves Italians (although more for the mob). His middle name is Calvin so he once and awhile gets on this silly mob streek and goes around as "Don Calvino" of such and such family. Strange.

    P. S. I like food….a lot.

We\’re American and we use tupperware.  Well the more redneck you are the more your tupperware resembles gladware, country crock butter blowls, or cool whip tubs.  In my wife\’s family, it is considered rude to leave the host with leftovers to clean up and put away.  I would have made sure someone brought back a doggie bag. Then eat it in front of the doggies.

Hope girlie poo is better soon if not already !

Yeah when they were younger my oldest at the time was 5 and decided to cut 13 inches of her 5 year old sisters hair…leaving her with bangs that were approx. .5 of a centimeter long…and her baby sister ? She just hacked the ponytail off the top of her head…it\’s funny now but Grandma and Grandpa didn\’t get to babysit for awhile after that !
