Cruisin Night, Classic’s Car Show

Every year in July, our little park is filled with all kinds of gorgeous, classic, antique, collectible, and good ‘ol muscle, cars.

It’s called, "Cruisin’ Night"

They have the car show at the park for most of the day, then in the evening they all fire up these babies and cruise main street. It’s fun to hear those old motors purrr and watch them as they drive up and down main.

There’s no entrance fee, you just head on down there and drool, dream, and appreciate, their beauty.
I posted an album of some of my favorites this year.
As you can see my heart has been taken by a little red, Nash-Healey Pininfarina. I’m an Austin-Healey fan too, but I’ve never seen a Nash-Healey.
I’m telling Santa that it’s on my list for Christmas…. lol

As I was leaving there was an older gentleman there with his wife, and I hear him say…"Did you see anything you liked or wanted baby?"
I did a double take thinking he was joking… he WASN’T! LOL Lucky lady!

Enjoy the pictures. BIG HUGS, Steph

I have a thing for old cars.. they\’re beautiful, and they\’re so much easierto work on.  Tons more style, and personality, too.   We have a car show like that a couple of times a year.  The only road going in and out of thebeach, has a major hotel chain that holds it.  Causes alot of traffic jams!It\’s fun.. but it breaks my heart to just look.  Hope your summer has gotten more comfortable there, Stephie.  Today, it\’s finally cloudy, breezy, and cool, for the first time in months.  Probably about 82 or so, and onlyup to 86-88.  Almost makes me want to get out a sweater…  😉

Okay, I\’ve never even HEARD of the cars you talked about.  How\’s that for car-illiterate.
    Looks like fun, though!

We\’re holding together. Her family is all getting here, so she\’s busy, and that\’s good. They had trouble scheduling an MRI for Friday morning, which is why the doc changed it..that\’s good, she\’ll have more time with the family..she\’s scared, really scared, which makes me nervous..I believe in premonitions! Still, there\’s no other choice.

Those are some sweeeet rides! I am partial to the Chevy SS…which in deed was red AND a convertable!  Although the black Thunderbird was very nice as well…a few years too young for me…I prefer the late 50\’s on the Thunderbirds. I think I saw a 455 in the background of one of the photos also…VERY COOL! Those engines were fast in their day, I\’ll tell you what!  Its a wonderful thing, Crusin\’ Night…and it looks as if you had yourself a wonderful time!  I hope we have one soon!

Thanks for the note…ahhh the camaro! I had one in high school…\’79, white with red interior and red and black "racing stripes", it had airshocks in the back so it\’s rear end sat up real high, and the loudest radio (and engine) in town, oh! and tinted windows (back before that was against the law!)  Wow that was a great car!  And the boyfriend drove the black Trans Am (of course) We were the coolest!

After high school I had a 65 Chevy Malibu! A nice pea green, the key was on the dash, you could start the car, and then remove the key with it still running!  She had no radio, no air, the windows could be pulled down just by pushing on them!  But I loved her! She was my baby!  It\’s nice to see some of that all in good condition!  And actually 30K for an old Corvette IS a great deal!!  Goodness, my minivan cost almost that 6 years ago! : )

Its nice to remember the days when the engines were big enough for me to actually sit in to do work on them, changing the oil was childsplay, and you could see every working part without straining…the good old days of the cars…now the oil can\’t be changed without a pit or risers, everything is electrical, and one wrong move, and the entire system is messed up…take me back to the horse and carriage!  : )

As for the family…I say you have a "pool" of $ that everyone must add equal amounts for the fix up, it belongs to all that pitch in, and they you have a lottery to see who drives on which weeks…and let me know how that goes!  Its sad to think a \’56 Thunderbird is sitting somewhere unhappy because it\’s owners can\’t decide on things like that….poor car!  : )

Hey Kitty… great pictures of the cars… Not much use for drop tops over here at the moment as Britain seems to have decide to have it\’s own monsoon season and it\’s rain all the way baby!!!!… YEAH… or rather … nuts!!!!!!!

Was also reading your bit on kids and wrapping them up in cotton wool… or getting disclaimers to play… stupid isn\’t it?  I would say that the world has gone mad but I don\’t want to get sued for defamation by anyone so let\’s just say it\’s not as fun as it used to be.

Hey Kitty… it is with a heavy heart that I visit today. When I put hh-zzz\’s in cans, i like to think that it is benefitting mankind… it is a little bit of good in an otherwise harsh world.  Never in my wildest thoughts did I think that it would be used to tease poor little furry cats.  I bet you hh-zzz and when they come running, you hide the can behind your back and look innocent and say…\’ Hh-zzz???? I didn\’t hear a hh-zzz… no hh-zzz-ing going on here…\’ And then you take advantage of the cats being there by saying… \’oh yes… while you\’re here though, I\’m going away for a couple of days so can you check the mail and bring it in everyday, I\’ve cancelled the milk so no need to worry about that and you\’ll have to go to Mrs Jenkins at No. 6 for your dinner… bye\’.

And then the poor bewildered cats just sit there looking… well… bewildered and you\’re gone before they realise they\’ve been conned.  Y\’see.. it\’s only when you get to know people that you learn their true nature.  i have to admit to being slightly disappointed Kitty…
But then I got to thinking about whether cats could take over the world if only they had opposable thumbs… they\’re quite independant and with opposable thumbs they could open their own cans of food (which,let\’s face it, that\’s all they need humans for).
Then I had a change of mind and thought it wouldn\’t be possible… y\’see cats are like teenagers… they\’re moody, stroppy and they go out and you never know when they\’re going to return… picture the scene… you\’re sitting in your lounge and the cat walks by and you say \’where you going?\’ and the cat, without stopping, grunts \’Out\’.  You say \’when will you be back?\’ and the cat huffs and puffs and whines \’dunno.. god… why are you always hassling me?\’ and you shout… \’I\’m not hassling you… and don\’t slam the…\’  ******SLAM!!!!!!!****** \’catflap….  ***sigh***\’.

Plus, do they ever look at you when you put their food out and say \’Tuna flavour???… Again???… **tuts** Brians owners are so cooooooooooool… they feed him rabbit and turkey….\’

PLUS… if they had opposable thumbs I bet they\’d spend all evening on the telephone talking to their mates… it\’s only the lack of opposable thumbs that prevents them from holding the receiver…

Therefore, there is no chance of cats taking over the world even if they did have opposable thumbs… they\’d just be like little furry humans…. perhaps I think about these things too much.
    Anywho\’s  ***crazy wave***
