Storms, and little boys

We’ve had some really rough storms this weekend/week. Winds of up to 85 miles per hour, with power outages and trees blown down. I’m thankful that we are all safe.
Yesterday was rain, today, more snow… I’ll take the rain, thank you very much!

My girls love the snow. I’m OK with it, unless I have to drive in it.

I’ve found the cats aren’t too fond of it either. Out of the 12 I feed. Only 1 likes being outside in the winter. Most of the others go outside during the day, but come nightfall, I have them all waiting at the door.
Sleeping with 6 or more cats on the bed is an interesting experience. They seem to all have a small portion of my bed that’s their area, and the others aren’t allowed to cross that imaginary line.
One night I dreamed I was Gulliver all pinned down by the little people…. lol

The other night I worked the concession stand at the high school. Parents volunteer to run it while the games are going. It’s fun and you get to see what your child is like around his/her peers.

There was a little boy, 4yrs old, red haired, who had been hanging around for awhile. I asked if he was lost. He told me he was looking for his Dad.
He didn’t seem to be concerned at all, just that he was looking for his Dad.
He could answer all my questions as to his full name, his Dad’s name, how old he was, etc.
He eventually found his way into the concession stand, and I decided to take him to find his Dad.
We got to the entrance of the gym and a boy of 12 or so, says, "OH I know who he is!"
He knew where the boy’s Dad was too. So, off they went.

I went back to making popcorn…

About 20 minutes later, I look out the window and who do I see? Lil Mr. Christian, back again. His father had given him a Dr. Pepper and he wanted me to see it. He then makes his way into the booth and tells me that he’s going to "help me."

I told him that if he was my lil boy, he would be in big trouble. That his Mom was probably really worried about where he was.
"My Mom’s not here." (Ahhhh that explains a lot!)

I told him that he needed to go back to the gym and sit with his Dad. "I don’t need to!"
"Yes, you do!" "No, I don’t."  "I’m gonna help you." (Oh joy)

Part of me is thinking that this boy is a mother’s nightmare. I could have easily kidnapped him.
The other part of me is thinking, gone are the days of my kids wanting to actually help do work, or housework.

Maybe I should invest in a popcorn machine?

(Sigh) It’s snowing again. I guess I better get going. I have to drive to Boise, and it’s gonna be a looong day. BIG HUGS, Steph

Jane, Only 2 of them bring me "treats." I have had to rescue a squirrel or two, oh and a dove. They know they aren\’t supposed to try for the doves or Mama gets very cranky! lol

Teri, I imagine his Mom would have had a heart attack if she knew that her hubby was letting him roam freely. He was a precocious lil guy… I like that. lol
What???? 76??????? That\’s suntanning weather! (The dome looks pretty at night)

Greg, I\’ll take the 70 degrees, but you can keep the tornados. Are you guys OK? Please take care.

Laoch, No wonder I like you!

That\’s a cool popcorn popper. The one at the school is the kind like they have at movie theatres.
My kids would love to have one like that. lol

Bob, Yep, you have an idea what I\’m talking about. lol
I promise, no kidnapping… although he was very cute. LOL
Popcorn does sound good right now. I like mine with real butter.

Skitzo, Play nice, or go home. I have no problem with us being friends… OH was that supposed to be a threat? Really now. I\’m sure you have more to offer as a person than you know.
I have no need to apologize, and my soul is very free, thanks very much.
I can\’t say I know Kim, but I\’m sure she\’s a lovely person. You should channel your jealously in more productive ways… and to that you can get an, AMEN brothaz an sistaz.

    Jade, I\’m on my way!

Glenda,  It does my heart good to see you and bro. skitz, finding \’the light.\’

You are so awesome, Steph..  the little boy is obviously in a situation where he is neglected, and has gotten used to it fromhis parents.. but recognizes a warm heart when he sees it.Bless you, girl.   I was feeling sorry for myself today becauseit\’s warm and muggy here..  at least I can safely travel, if Ichoose to.  I know it\’s dangerous traveling where you are, with the weather like it is.  Please don\’t take any unnecessarychances.  😉  love,t

    Hi Ms. Kitty,
We had those same 80 mph winds…What’s up with that my friend.
We must be showing our age. I like to see snow every once in awhile. But then get it the heck outta’ here. We have been blessed with a warm winter here so far. We can usually start thinking spring by the end of February.
I could still teach you how to be the great female snow drifter in your car.
Six cats sleeping around you…Ahh…Ahh…Ahhchoo!!! Where’s your husband sleep and how is he supposed to get close to you?
Alrighty…I’m smiling at my favorite high school concession lady. Could I please have a popcorn, bottled water, and no I do not want a free cat(s).
Have a wonderful week. Your old friend in Branson.
    Greg

Zeppers, I\’ve heard you guys have had storms too. Take care. OK?

Rain, Thanks for the kind words. I seem to attract strays. LOL
Today, I\’ll pretend I\’m in Florida. I\’ll go sit on the beach, listen to the soothing waves and sounds of the ocean, letting the warmth soak into my cold bones… You can pretend you are here, it\’s freezing and the roads are terrible! LOL Not much of an exchange! Luv ya!

Greg, When I lived on the other side of the state, high winds were the norm. I have to say I haven\’t missed them much.
    I\’m already thinking spring!
Snow drifting sounds fun! I\’m pretty darn good at spinning cookies.
Hubby works graveyard (his preferred shift), so, I either have cats or my 3 yr old grandson to snuggle with. I prefer my grandson, he\’s more snuggly! lol
One popcorn and water coming up… are you SURE you don\’t want the free cat that comes with??? LOL

You always crack me up! I always have the little "extras" hanging around wanting to help, too.. we must just attract "strays".. don\’t you know that mom would have heart failure?? We survived all the storms and tornados just fine.. they stayed a little south for the most part. Nothin\’ like tornados in January!! Have a great week!
    hugs,

Any time I ever found myself headed for Boise would indeed be a long day. As to sleeping with 6 cats, this is an experience that is interesting in more ways than you might imagine. And hooray for that kid\’s dad; thank god there is at leasst one parent left in America who doesn\’t imagine that his kid is moments from a snatch at all times. The kid might actually grow up to have a life. Perhaps he will be able to ride in and save the day when all the overprotected and over-antibacterialized kids are in danger of succumbing to the first adventure or germ they encounter…

David, it would indeed… I KNEW you were gonna appreciate the fact that his Dad let him run around.  I must admit I enjoyed the precocious lil guy and his complete lack of concern over the fact that he was among strangers. Even his arguing with me about having to go back to his Dad made me laugh, but that got ME in trouble with the other Moms. lol

    BH, Poor BH, Alergies huh?

Jean, I like when I crack you up… and I hope you\’re feeling much better.
