It’s the first thing to go…

It sucks getting older. I know that on the inside I’m a better person than the, "young" Steph, but, well, case in point…
I was in the shower this morning and thought of a really good thing to blog about.

It would be short, to the point and was very witty…

Don’t ask me what it was, because the only thing I can remember is that it would be short, to the point and very witty. I’ve been trying to remember what it was all day. Pfffft….

I have Jan and Dean playing. In keeping with the ‘car’ theme. I got to see them in concert during the early 80’s. I love their music, and the Beach Boys.
At the start of the concert they had a running joke. They started it with saying, what shall we play? Then one of them named… "Fun, Fun, Fun"  and the other one would say, "Hey, that’s not ours it’s the Beach Boys!"
They did that throughout the concert, and played both their songs and some of the Beach Boy’s. I guess I wasn’t the only one who would get them mixed up. lol

Here’s hoping your memory is working better than mine, and the rest of your week is great. BIG HUGS, Steph

P.S., I got a phone call this morning. The girl’s basketball teams are heading out of town, to a tournament this weekend. They leave Friday morning. I’ve been asked to make them one of their favorite treats to take along for the ride. (I make them for when the girls are playing fast pitch softball too.)

So, since I’m making them, I thought I’d share the recipe. WARNING! They are very rich, and personally I can’t even eat a whole piece, but, they seem to be irresistible to kids and teens.

Crispy Chocolate Log

1 package (approx 10 oz) mini marshmallows (I think the pkg is 10.5 oz)
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup creamy style peanut butter
5 1/2 cups rice crispies cereal
1 1/3 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup butterscotch chips

Line a 15x10x1 pan with wax paper, and either lightly butter the wax paper, or spray it with butter flavored Pam. Measure 5 and 1/2 cups rice crispies cereal into a large bowl, set aside.

In a large microwave safe bowl, combine the marshmallows, butter, and peanut butter. Cover and microwave on high, 2 minutes. Stir until all is well blended. Pour marshmallow mixture over the rice crispies, and stir until they are well coated and evenly mixed.
Pour out onto the buttered/sprayed wax paper. Lightly butter your fingers and press the rice crispies mixture into a large flat rectangle (size of the pan).
In another microwave safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Remove and stir until smooth and spreadable. If 2 minutes isn’t enough, try another 20 seconds, but be careful to not over cook them.
Spread the chip mixture onto the rice crispies rectangle to within 1 inch of the edge. Starting with the long side, roll up "jelly roll" style. Peeling wax paper away while rolling. Place seam side down on a serving plate, and refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving. Cut into 1 inch thick round slices. Yields approx 15/20 slices. ENJOY!

Maybe posting pictures of yourself in the shower will help your readers guess what your posting was going to be?

I was going to suggest you get back into the shower – that usually works for me.  As for the recipe… it looks too darn good to be feeding to the bball team.  Mmm… I may have to try it.

Loach, and Zepp, You guys crack me up. It looks like I\’ll have to find my old post about naked pictures. lol
In the mean time… posting photos of me in the shower would not only make you physically ill, but, would cause a world wide virus that would damage all computers.
    Be afraid, be very afraid!

Jane, It will probably come to me… about a month or two from now… maybe… lol
The recipe is really good. Give it a go!

    Osama Bin Loadin your pants,
Thank you for your kind thoughts. I\’m told that you, yourself smell like 500 yr old camel dung. Your family and friends must consider themselves blessed.

I worked in a wheelchair factory in West LA long ago and a guy there had attended a party at either Jan or Dean\’s house – forget which.  He said the guy had an attic of sorts – I think one of those hole in the ceiling kind, and spent the entire evening mooning the guests.  A high time was had, I gather, by all.  You don\’t get better as you get older, you just get more forgiving.  Most people get a good deal worse, actually.  Early \’80\’s huh (I mean the J&D concert, not you) – I thought one of them was in a crash (in keeping with the car theme) and was zombied or something.  Not true, apparently.  Or maybe you were at a Beach Boys concert and remained confused.  As to the chocolate log, I am not even going there…

Nooner: What did you just ask? I forgot!

    Steph: I know you, don\’t I?

Nooner: I\’m sorry. Are you talking to me?

Steph: Would you please move your wheel chair a little please? I\’d like to get by so I can get to the Music Room and listen to some Jan and Dean? How long have you been here at the Saint Boise Nursing Home?

Nooner: Could you speak up please? It ain\’t easy being 97 years old.

Steph: Aha! I remember you now! You\’re the guy with the grey hair fetish, aren\’t you?

David, Maybe we get more forgiving because we can\’t remember why we were mad in the first place?
It was, Jan, who wrecked his car and sustained brain damage (1966).
They did tours starting 1977 or so. I either saw them in 1979 or 80/81. I don\’t remember for sure what year. I do remember being shocked at what a difference an accident like that can make on a person.
He died in 2004. Dean is still alive.

Gill, Hi! It\’s nice to hear I\’m not the only one. lol
Glad you enjoyed the car photos. It\’s my dream list.

Aisha, I do that too, but, not as much as my mom. We\’ll be on the phone and she\’ll do that… now, what was I saying? lol
Try the recipe, it is easy, and yummy!

Bob, Great minds think alike huh? LOL You are a nut, and what\’s a little weight gain between friends?

Nooner, Ahhhh yes, I can see it now. I\’m going to be the little old lady who\’s pissed because I can\’t have all my cats in the nursing home, and you\’re that rascal that keeps flashing and propositioning all the ladies and nurses. (You\’ll still have your foot fetish too!) lmao At least it won\’t be boring! lol

Hi Chris, Yep, in the shower and just before falling asleep. If I could remember some of those things, I\’d probably be a millionare, have written the next best selling novel, or solved the problem of world hunger… IF I could only remember…

CRIPES!!!!!!… I came round for my hug and when you put your hands in my pocket I thought I was in… now I know different… you\’re after my small change … typical!

Anywho\’s… Air was slightly disappointing if I\’m honest.  They filled the room no problem but I had difficulty seeing them… plus, they didn\’t smell too good… I think someone was adding their own air if I\’m honest….  ***wafts nose***

I have to admit that I don\’t think it was worth the 497 British Panda\’s Sterling (that\’s what we\’re using over here now…. the Pound has gone by the board and we\’re using Panda\’s…. it\’s a bit of a bugger cos I\’ve had to buy a bigger wallet and it\’s making my trousers sag…. they\’re nearly falling down… it\’s quite filthy) but I\’m still loving their music so it\’s one to put down to experience… It was really strange because a lot of their music is instrumental and chilled out…

Right… I\’m gone… gonna leave my hugs over here for you to collect cos I don;t want you rummaging through my already precariously hitched trousers…
