Vocabulary word for the day

Your Vocabulary word for the day…

Definition from Kitcarta Dictionary: English (North American Edition)

Frustration
frus·tra·tion (noun)
1.The act of cleaning and setting up a 55 gallon fish tank, (with the help of at least 4 cats, 1 of which decides to jump in while you are filling it up with the hose). Dealing with 1 wet, cranky cat. Finish filling up the tank, only to realize that you’ve set the fish tank stand and fish tank too close to the wall and none of the things that go on it, (filter, heater, pumps, etc) will fit. Siphoning out 55 gallons of water,(yes I AM good at siphoning) using the only bucket you can find, which is about 2 or 3 gallon size, killing your back and losing what little thread of sanity you had to begin with. Getting all the water out. Moving the whole set up about 4 or 5 inches out away from the wall, and then refilling it all over again, (this time making sure no cats get too close). Noticing that once it’s filled, you see lots of kitty fur floating on top of the water, and knowing that can’t be all that great for fish, trying to skim it all off. The best you can anyway. Adding the filter and heater, and realizing that after you plug them in, there are no close outlets for anything else, like pumps, and the lights. Putting on the lids, and the lights, (even though they aren’t plugged in)  vowing to worry about it tomorrow, and hoping that a power strip will be safe to use with a fish tank, because if not, those lil buggers are gonna have to be happy in the dark!

Kinda makes me wish I was a drinker. I’ll bet not one of those lil guys says, thank you, either. BIG HUGS, Steph

Have you considered a simple, low maintenance, and attractive beta fish? No fuss, no muss 🙂

Brenda is exactly right; and because she and I often agree, I believe she\’s also a genius…

Our home is equipped with six betas, all in their own little bowl. (They fight to the death if they\’re roomies, I\’m told.) No fancy tank, no heater, no filter. The clincher for me was when I read somewhere that beta fish can (and do!) survive in mud puddles that are less than an inch deep (in their native Japan or some other warm place). I figure if I give them some pretty rocks, dump some chow in periodically, and rinse their bowls out a few times a year, they\’re livin\’ the high life, compared to some of their friends.

But I\’m just lazy like that, and fancy myself some sort of fish philanthropist.

    This entry was hilarious.

Ah yes, and that\’s why I don\’t have any pets – except for the dust bunnies under my bed.  You hit the nail on the head with the word of the day!

Loved your story about the phone call about the newspaper.I think I\’d have to tell him to come and get it though – but then I like to stir up trouble 😉

Pfffft.  Who cares about the fish? It\’s about the hours of enjoyment you brought to your cats that makes it all worth while! 😉

OMG- Marie just said to me TODAY, dont you want fish again?  I said NO!  I love the way it looks but a 55 gallon tank is a job.
I bet it looks great now.
